Account reconciliation software
What a reconciliation tool should establish, and what it should never claim.
A diagnostic, not a bookkeeping platform
Bookkeeping platforms hold your records and post entries. Reconciliation software has a narrower job: compare independent records of the same account and account for the difference. FixLedger is the second kind. It never posts an entry, never edits your books, and never connects to an accounting system or bank account.
Questions worth asking of any tool
- Is the arithmetic deterministic? Balances, matching and variance should be computed to the exact cent by a fixed rule set — not estimated by a language model.
- Is there evidence for each finding? Every item should reference the source document and line it came from, with the original value retained alongside any normalized value.
- How are uncertain items described? Similar entries should be reported as possible duplicates requiring review, not as confirmed errors.
- What access does it require? A review needs only the documents that review depends on — not a live connection to your accounting software or bank.
- What happens to the documents? Ask when files are removed, whether reviews can be deleted, and whether closing the account actually deletes everything.
How FixLedger answers them
Calculations run on a deterministic engine with versioned rules. Findings carry a review status, a confidence level and supporting evidence. Analyze-only reviews retain no file. Reviews and their source documents can be deleted individually, and the account can be closed in one step from your settings. Detail is on the security and privacy pages.
